PUNO ISLANDS AND  SILLUSTANI

  1st Day:      
JULIACA - PUNO:
Arrival at the airport. On the way to Puno, we will visit the archaeological center of Sillustani, located at 28 Km. away from Puno .The Chullpa is a circular tower that used to tombs for their noble class (Caciques, priests) in the Pre-Inka period. Some of these stone funerary towers stand nearly 40 feet tall. Sillustani is known for having the most perfect Chullpas of the world, where have been founded mummified bodies.
Overnight(If you arrive by bus or by train the excursion to Sillustani will be on 3rd. Day).
  2do. Día:    
PUNO - FLOATING ISLAND OF UROS AND TAQUILE:
Breakfast Transfer from your hotel to the local pier, where we will go to the floating Island of Uros, located at 10 Km. away from the Puno pier. The residents of the Uros use the cattail, a type of rush, which grows in the lake, to create the conditions that ensure the islands stay afloat.
The dense roots that the plants develop support the island. The roofs are waterproof and the houses are extremely humid because of the surrounding water. Only in the early 60's, the Uros started to build small artificial islands with reeds called "totora" for their homes. Fishermen, hunters and taxidermist inhabit the floating islands of the Uros.
Then we will visit the Taquile Island , located at 35 km away from Puno. This place offers an special and impressive landscape and culture. Taquile Island is famous for its craft production, particularly for its beautiful textiles. Also, this island is known for its folk music. After lunch at a local Taquile inn, we take a walk through the various hills and archaeological sites of this 6km long island. In the afternoon, return to Puno and transfer to your hotel. Overnight
